Network Ltd was started by Ryan Butler while studying Computer Science at the University of Manchester in 2002. During the Masters course Ryan developed a piece of software aimed at simplifying Internet access and went on to develop the project as one of the first graduates from the new Master of Enterprise course (at the Manchester Science Enterprise Centre). Following the course Ryan went on applied for a Department of Trade and Industry technology grant to carry out a feasibility study. In October 2003 Network Ltd received this competitive award (a Smart Feasibility Award) and began developing a more comprehensive prototype. The first stage of development was to build a web-based demonstration version, proving some underlying concepts. This was achieved by April 2004 (see "News" section). The software has received a lot of interest from business customers wishing to better manage the internet as a knowledge resource. The following prototype was to focus on this business market. David Gould, a Computer Science graduate from the University of Cambridge, joined the business in November 2004, taking the role of software developer. David has developed Network's new patented knowledge management software, Network Menus™. The software has undergone testing and pilot implementations running in two FTSE 250 businesses and a local government organisation. Network is continuing to develop Network Menus™ for the business market. Network works closly with its clients to ensure that the solutions delivered meet the specific requirements of the organisations. Network believes that browsing and researching through the Internet or intranet should not be an isolated experience. Using Network Menus™ employees are continuously linked to the rest of the business community, providing a collaborative environment and a powerful business asset. |
