Network Ltd was invited to present to the Knowledge Enthusiasts group at the West Midlands Regional Observatory. The group's primary aim is to provide a forum for discussion and an open environment to share information on issues around KM, whether it is fundamental theoretical concepts or practical implementation of KM solutions. Network presented Information Technology and Knowledge Management (KM) to the group. The presentation was well received and created some interesting discussions around the effectiveness of Network Menus™ as a knowledge management tool. The knowledge enthusiasts group often conclude that in order for Knowledge Management to succeed there needs to be both senior management and user buy in to KM. This is often difficult to achieve and without this KM systems will often fail as there is little impetus to use these systems. Of the available KM IT systems Intranets tend to be underused, shared file spaces can become cluttered and unusable and 95% of internal searches fail. Most social network systems such as Wiki's or Blogs suffer a similar fate with only vocal users putting their work into such systems. Network Menus™ takes a unique approach to KM and offers a KM system that works for users at a simple level encouraging take up and therefore success.
